IIM Bangalore is famously known for placing significant weight on academics and work experience, more so than some other top IIMs. A 99 percentile with a weak academic record is not automatically safe at IIMB. Conversely, a candidate with a strong academic history, meaningful work experience, and a well-rounded profile can have a genuine shot even at the lower end of the competitive range. These are qualifying minimums. The actual competitive cutoff for General category shortlisting is 99 to 99.5 percentile. Clearing the minimum does not mean you get a call, it means you are eligible to be considered.
General: 85th overall / 75th sectional. NC-OBC: 75th / 65th. SC: 65th / 55th. ST: 55th / 45th. PwD (General): 65th / 55th. Every section must independently cross its sectional cutoff.
IIMB weights academic performance heavily in its shortlisting model. Your 10th marks, 12th marks, and undergraduate CGPA all feed into your composite score, and consistency across all three stages is rewarded.
Shortlisted candidates appear for a Written Ability Test followed by a Personal Interview. IIMB panels tend to go deep on your stated interests and your ability to think through problems in real time.
Final admission is based on the combined score across CAT, academics, WAT, and PI. Offers go out in order of merit, and IIMB actively adjusts scoring to bring in diverse, non-engineering backgrounds too.

The largest recruiting sector at 41% of all offers. Accenture Strategy led with 75 offers, followed by BCG, TCS Management Consulting, Bain, and McKinsey.
Technology and Product Management roles made up 15% of offers, led by Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Zomato thanks to IIMB's Bengaluru location.
Investment Banking accounted for 11% of offers, with American Express and Goldman Sachs among the leading recruiters.
Rounding out the mix, students secured offers across FMCG, consumer goods, and pharmaceutical leadership programmes.
601 offers were made for 606 students, with Consulting leading at 38% of offers. Google, P&G, and Amazon were among the other top summer recruiters, alongside Accenture Strategy, BCG, and TCS.
